Logging in to the FRRO C-Form portal

The Form C login page is at indianfrro.gov.in/frro/FormC — the Bureau of Immigration's portal for accommodation providers, headed "Online Form III" (the form's new official name; the portal itself still labels it C-Form in most places). You sign in with the User ID and password issued for your property, plus a captcha.

First, check you are looking for the right portal

Three quite different things answer to "C Form", and the login pages are not interchangeable:

• You run a hotel, guest house, homestay, hostel or rent out rooms and need to report a foreign guest — you want the C-Form portal above. That is what this page is about.
• You are a foreign national dealing with your own visa — extension, registration, exit — you want e-FRRO, the Bureau's separate e-services portal for foreigners themselves. A hotel's C-Form login will not help you, and vice versa.
• You are looking for the sales-tax "C Form" (the CST inter-state purchase declaration) — that is an entirely unrelated tax document from an entirely different department. Nothing on the FRRO portal, or on this site, concerns it.

One more, from the portal's own notices: medical and Ayush visa cases have a separate portal — if that is your situation, the C-Form login page itself points you to it.

No login yet? You register the property once

The credentials are issued per property, not per person. From the login page, "Sign Up (Register)" opens the registration menu, which splits into two paths:

• Sign Up (Registration) — hotels, guest houses and other commercial accommodation.
• Sign Up (Registration) For Individual House — you host foreign guests in your own house (a homestay room, a rented-out annexe). This path has its own "User Activation" step, also on the registration menu.

Registration is not instant: the form you submit goes to the FRRO/FRO for approval — the portal's own menu offers an "Edit" option specifically "for Correction of User Registration Form before the Approval of FRRO/FRO". So register before you need it, not the evening a foreign guest arrives with a 24-hour clock already running.

If you run more than one property, expect more than one registration: each accommodation is its own FRRO registration with its own login, and a filing made under the wrong property's account is a mis-filing, not a shortcut.

Can't sign in? The usual suspects

• The password expires every 30 days. The portal states this on the login page itself: "Due to security reason, 30 days password change policy is introduced." If the login worked last month and fails today, this is the first thing to suspect — use the portal's "Forgot Password" link. It also means a password written on a sticky note under the desk goes stale on its own schedule, so decide who at your property owns keeping it current.
• The User ID matters more than the password. It is a username, not an email address — but it is tied to the email you registered with, and that is how recovery works: "Forgot Password" asks for your User ID and mails a new password to the registered address. So a forgotten password is a two-minute reset; a forgotten User ID has no reset at all. If you have lost it, the way back is your own inbox — search the registered email account for the property registration mail the portal sent when your account was created. Of the two, the User ID is the one to record somewhere that outlives staff turnover.
• Wrong portal. See the list above — a foreigner's e-FRRO account does not open the C-Form login, and the other way round.
• Registration not yet approved. A submitted registration is not a working login until the FRRO/FRO approves it.
• The captcha. Low-stakes but real: it is entered fresh on every attempt, and a failed captcha looks exactly like a failed password.

If none of that is it, the credentials themselves are a matter between you and your FRRO — no software company, ours included, can reset or reissue them.

Once you are in: what the filing itself involves

Logging in is the easy part. The form behind it asks for the guest's details across sections A to G — passport number, visa number and type, dates and places of issue, arrival details, your accommodation's address — plus a photograph of the guest that the portal only accepts under 50 KB (our free photo compressor exists because almost no phone photo is). Typed by hand at a front desk, that is routinely 15–25 minutes per guest, done against the 24-hour deadline that started when the guest walked in.

Whichever way you file, keep the acknowledgement number the portal returns. It is the only artefact that proves a filing was accepted, and the thing an inspection asks for — see what the law says about not filing. And remember who this is for: every foreign guest, where Indian citizens are exempt but OCI and PIO cardholders are not — a card is not citizenship.

What C Form Plus changes (and what it doesn't)
